ChineseBites hosted an event to celebrate 4 decades of dim sum at Pink Pearl. The media event had 50 bloggers and social media influencers attend. Together we went on a culinary journey of Vancouver's signature dim sums at Pink Pearl representing different decades prepared by Dim Sum Chef F.K. Jiang and his team. They're also launching a special 4-month long campaign in support of the Food Bank and Sowers Society.

The franchise is started by brother and sister who were born and raised in a farming family in Central Taiwan using selected food ingredients and traditional processes, they made soft taro ball, and herbal jelly desserts to start the business.

The Flying Rose

A must for any mango lovers. The mangoes used here is some of the most delicious I've tasted from a restaurant. I was impressed with their standards to get hand picked riped fruit and have it airmailed directly to them. We would give the mango desserts 9/10 but the Walnut Soup and Sesame Rice Dumplings was more like 5.5/10 which dragged down their overall rating.

Dinesty on Robson

Although Dinesty won many awards, we wouldn't recommend going out of your way to go here. They are average at best, but in the West End, they fill the void for acceptable Chinese food. It's a decent option for those who live in the area and don't want to make a trip far. It's very friendly to customers new to Chinese food as there are photos for every menu item and the interior is very clean. There is usually a wait for a table but it shouldn't take too long as tables are in and out pretty fast.

Excellent Tofu

Tofu pudding is a staple in Cantonese dessert that can be served cold or hot, sweet or unsweetened, and plain or toppings.  Excellent Tofu is a no frill's looking shop serving up the best tofu dessert in the city in our opinion. In China, tofu pudding is actually served for breakfast and is topped with savoury toppings instead of sweets.
