2023 Volvo V60 CC

For this week’s review we’re taking a look at the 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country. This is a lifted wagon with more rugged look to the exterior making it functional on adventures while being a practical for the family and drive like a car. For 2023 it’s equipped with a 2L Turbo mild hybrid.

Disclosure: Volvo Canada provided me with the 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country for a week to test drive, and photograph. All photos in this blog post was taken by me. #VolvoV60CrossCountry

INTERIOR FOR DRIVER: 8.5/10

The interior cabin is quiet, and equipped with comfortable seats. The seats are heated and ventilated and has massage function. The transmission tuning is very smooth and has a great audio system. This is a pure premium vehicle, it’s not going to feel sharp driving it hard.

The camera system can only show one angle at a time. I like having a split screen to see the 360 view paired with a front or rear camera. With such a huge tablet display it would be convenient to have this feature. Infotainment is the updated one and thumbs down for me. There is too much digging into menus to find things. It’s almost as if this was done on purpose to force the driver to use Google assistant voice commands instead of directly interfacing with the system yourself.

I wish there was a spot where I can put my phone flat. Most of the time it’s in the cup holder area but I don’t like how it bounces around if carving mountain roads.

INTERIOR FOR PASSENGERS: 8/10

  • Headroom is good but the legroom is average in the class

  • Panoramic sunroof lets in lots of light for rear passengers

  • Rear passengers have rear climate controls from the centre console

INTERIOR STORAGE:9/10

  • 23 Cu Ft of trunk cargo space

  • Spare tire under load floor

  • Power lift trunk

  • Seats fold in a 60/40 fashion with a ski pass through

  • Has cargo cover

  • Boxy shape makes it very practical to load bulky items

OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE 2023 Volvo v60 cross country:

The 2023 Volvo V60 Cross Country is one of the only wagons you can get in North America. Like all Volvo’s it has a timeless look that won’t age horribly. Regardless of any issues I have with the infotainment, I can look passed it because I want them to continue producing wagons. I am really happy this exists.

If the 2022.5 XC90 Recharge is a look into the future of what’s to come, there should be a PHEV variant of this that adds an extra 200 HP while improving fuel economy drastically.

If you want to have something practical like a SUV but want to stand out on the road then a wagon may be right for you.
