Effydesk Business Office Model Standing Desk Review

With the rise of working from home being the new norm, I decided to give my home setup an upgrade by purchasing standing desk legs from Effydesk and a few other accessories.

Previously I was rocking the Ikea Linnmon tabletop with the Ikea Adils legs for the past 6 years with my laptop and monitor propped up on a stack of books. During my desk setup upgrade process I also bought a laptop mount, and 2 articulating monitor arms. One from Amazon Basics and other from VIVO.

For my keyboard and mouse I switched to a wireless setup, the Logitech MX Keys and MX Master 3. This is great for me because they pair with 3 devices and can easily switch between them. I have 2 laptops and an iPad Pro and this comes in handy.

Disclosure: I received a discount off my order but opinions are my own.

ORDERING process:

The website ordering was straight forward. You have options for the table size, frame color and table top colour. Compared to Fully, there is limited options for customizing. I wish a tracking number be sent out when it’s shipped.

I appreciate how their desks comes with a memory controller as standard while other companies charge it as an extra option.

Packaging:

The packaging is super compact! It easily fit in the trunk of a Nissan Sentra which is a compact sedan. You won’t have to worry about having a big vehicle but you’ll want to have a friend with you. The package itself is really heavy!

Everything is protected well with the cutout foam. Other standing desk companies package each piece in a separate box to prevent a box from getting too heavy but that causes more clutter. If you live in a condo like me it can be a hassle going up and down the elevator many times to throw all the boxes.

ASSEMBLY Process:

The assembly can be done with one person but you’ll need a power drill because their tabletop doesn’t come pre-drilled. The various screws come in one package that isn’t labeled. I recommend laying them all out and confirm you have everything before starting.

There was a typo in the instruction manual at Step C that says to use “Machine Screws” but should be “Flat Head Screws” I realized this near the end when I was 4 screws short. I let the team at Effydesk know so this might be resolved by the time you get yours!

I love how it comes with some cable management 3M ties. Other standing desk try to sell you a wire management kit as an extra option. The desk’s maximum height makes it easy for me to get under it while sitting on a chair!

accessories:

The focus was to create a clutter free space and to acheive that I elevated my monitor and laptop off the table using monitor arms. The arms have cable management built in to hide the wires as it goes down under the table. To keep the wireless theme, I upgraded to a bluetooth keyboard (Logitech MX Keys), mouse (Logitech MX Master) and headphone (Sony WH-1000XM3)

overall impressions:

After using the Effydesk Business Office Standing Desk for a month I can say it’s a great value for someone living in Canada thanks to their free Canada wide shipping. The desk comes with everything you need to get started, a programmable memory controller and wire management cable ties.

It’s sturdy when transitioning between sitting and standing. Plus the memory controller uses physical buttons so you can just use your hand to feel which button to press without looking unlike other standing desks companies which use a touchscreen display.

There’s a 30 day free trial and 5 year warranty for peace of mind. Since I’ve run into no issues with the desk itself after assembling I give it a thumbs up and would recommend it if you’re looking for a budget friendly standing desk.
