OneCoffee 100% Compostable Coffee Pods
I went with MagMei as her plus one to OneCoffee's launch event hosted at Medina to check out this new coffee product for 2018. With 30 years roasting coffee locally as Canterbury Coffee, they expanded to create the most sustainable single-serve coffee available. In 2013 they launched OneCoffee where it was 80-90% compostable. In 2018 they launch their 100% compostable single serve pod.
One of the problems with capsule pod coffee is that it generates a lot of garbage. Last year there was over 10 billion capsules purchased world wide. I respect that OneCoffee created a product that benefits the planet and people. It is a convenient way to get your morning coffee.
At the event we got to try a flight of coffee. The 2 medium roasts from Columbia and Ethopia, and the dark roast from Sumatra. It was no surprise the Ethopia was my favourite. While we were served these three they also had a Peruvian Blend, French Roast, Breakfast Blend and Decaf to try if anyone wanted more coffee. I didn't try any more types of coffee as 3 cups was plenty for me. Their decafe is processed by Swiss Water which is a 100% chemical free process which delivers a yummy cup without altering the flavours of the bean.

Brunch pairs perfectly with coffee. And the team at Medina does not disappoint! The Fricassee and Paella were a crowd favourite.
The Sumatran Blend pairs great with the Fricassee and Paella. The Ethopian Blend pairs with the Saumon Fume. And the Colmbian Blend goes well with the Frittata.

Paella | 1 Sunny Egg, Orzo, Spicy Chorizo Sausage, Seasonal Vegetables, Grana Padano, Avocado & Spicy Charred Tomato Salsa
Frittata | Roasted Butternut Squash, Braised Kale & Leeks, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Basil & Capriny Goat Cheese, Organic Greens with Sherry Vinaigrette.

Of course we couldn't leave Medina without having their famous Liege style waffles. It was pared with milk chocolate lavender mocha sauce infused with OneCoffee! Absolutely delicious!
OVERALL IMPRESSION OF ONECOFFEE:
OneCoffee delivers on their promise for a cleaner way to enjoy the convenience of single serve K-cup style pods while also having decent tasting cup of coffee for something pre-ground. I think for something so convenient it's tempting to have around. My morning ritual is to hand grind my coffee beans at my desk and manually brew a batch but some mornings I'm so tired and wish there was a faster way. Having OneCoffee around for mornings like that would be great.
