VCBW Opening Night Presented By The Georgia Straight

The first event to kick off the 8th annual VCBW was at Yaletown Roundhouse. There was music, food, and beer! The tickets were $49 which includes 15 drink tickets, souvenir taster cup, live entertainment from Mark Woodyard who flew in from the UK and unlimited samples of Rocky Point beer flavour ice cream!

When I first heard there was beer flavour ice cream I was a bit on the fence but after one taste, all of us were back for more! I wish that it would be a regular menu item.

This was a great spot to discover beer. They had just about every style of beer from all sorts of local breweries. I was able to find so many new kids on the block that I have never heard of which made it to my favourite list. Backcountry Brewing was open for 2 months prior to the festival and they just started canning the day before! Their Widow Maker IPA was the best in show for me which also got me interested enough to drive up to Squamish to visit their brewery.

As the night went on, Mark Woodyard, was jamming out music for us!

Large venue inside with tons of standing space. If you wanted to sit there is seating out front including 1 food truck. It would have been nice to have more food options inside.
